SA-300: Stage Amplifier

A Versatile Performer

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a portable PA system that’s lightweight, sounds great, and is easy to set up for rehearsals, workshops, meetings, and small music events? And wouldn’t it be great if that same system could double as a stage amp during worship services, amplifying acoustic guitar, keyboards, or other instruments? If this sounds like something your church can use, take a look at the Roland SA-300 Stage Amplifier.

The SA-300 is a 350-watt, four-channel amplification system with built-in effects. It’s actually two separate, easy-to-carry pieces — an upper unit houses the amplification and mixing functions and provides stereo sound via two 6.5-inch coaxial speakers, while a lower unit contains a 12-inch speaker and acts as the subwoofer for the system. Utilizing newly developed amplifier components and neodymium magnets in the speakers, the SA-300 is extremely lightweight; the upper unit weighs in at just 26 pounds, while the subwoofer weighs even less, tipping the scales at only 24 pounds.

The four-channel mixer in the SA-300’s upper unit provides jacks for mics and line level sources, and each channel has its own independently adjustable reverb effect. On Channels 1 and 2, you can switch to a delay effect, and add a Vocal Enhancer to bring more definition to vocals. Each of these channels also provides an anti-feedback function, which automatically detects and eliminates feedback from a connected microphone. This allows you to position the SA-300 directly behind vocalists for worry-free sound monitoring.

The SA-300’s components can be stacked, or the upper unit can be mounted on a standard speaker stand if desired. If you need more sound coverage, two SA-300s can be connected together via stereo link jacks to create an integrated eight-channel system. If you want to go smaller, you can use the upper unit by itself, without the subwoofer. When using the SA-300 as an onstage amplifier, line out jacks allow for easy connection to the house PA system.
