001 Da 'V' Code

A dream come true for synthesists — the ability to play a vocal phrase. Thanks to VariPhrase technology, only the V-Synth Series allows vocal phrases to be played and performed musically. The vocal's timing can be controlled with the TimeTrip Pad and D Beam; formant can be controlled with an assignable knob in realtime. This patch shows the possibilities only available from the V-Synth series.

002 Solar Circle

A pad sound that’s being modulated rhythmically by a VariPhrase-encoded phrase sample. This allows the phrase to be played — again, only possible with the V-Synth Series. Check out each controller, and listen to the exciting results.

003 Mystic Rap

This patch uses the MultiStep Modulator, a newly added function to System Version 2.0. A VariPhrase-encoded audio phrase sample is being pitch/pan-modulated with the StepModulator, allowing the phrase to be played from the keyboard.

004 V-Screamer

A wild distorted guitar sound created by one of the world’s top V-Synth artists: Tatsuya Nishiwaki. A variety of interesting and expressive tonal changes can be made in real time.

005 VA KIT

A Rhythm patch using multiple zones. The rhythm pattern is driven by the arpeggiator. By turning off the arpeggiator, the individual drum sounds can be played manually.

006 Arkestra

A string sound made from a PCM oscillator and analog-modeling SuperSaw waveform, with the SideBand Filter added to create a unique ambient feel. It showcases a new application for the SideBand Filter.

007 PhysicalBass

A simple-but-versatile synth-bass sound. This patch was created by Tatsuya Nishiwaki, who uses the patch in live performances and recording sessions.

008 Trippin' EP

An electric piano sound with a unique floating feel created by the SideBand filter. The filter can be controlled in real time with TimeTrip Pad.

009 Oriental Vox

A solo-voice sound using VariPhrase, created by David Ahlund. The TimeTrip Pad allows complex forward and backward scan modulation.

010 Arp Drops

Created by electronica pioneer/producer/composer BT. It may seem like a standard arpeggiated sound at first, but it can be "played" with keyboard too. A WaveShaper is assigned to COSM 2, adding an edge to the sound.

011 OceanOfSaws

A patch that uses the newly added SuperSaw analog-modeling waveform for fat textures with multiple detunable saw waves. Operation is analog-synth-like —fun and practical.

012 Mellow Winds

Ex-Japan synthesist Richard Barbieri created this patch for his latest works and for live performance. It's a Lo-Fi flute-like sound with a unique ambient feel.

013 Outsider

Made by Stephane Pigeon, who has created various Roland synth patches since the JD-800. He makes the most out from the SideBand Filter, adding fatness to the sound in this case. Play with the TimeTrip Pad for interesting phrase effects.

014 Tek-Brass

A classic SuperSaw sound used in trance music. Experiment with adjustments to the envelopes in realtime.

015 Touch Return

Made by Keith Hillebrandt, sound designer for Nine Inch Nails. A metallic pad created by the SideBand Filter changes dramatically with the D Beam, TimeTrip Pad, and pitch/mod lever.

016 Slow Motion

Heavy loop sound made from the combination of a VariPhrased rhythm and a pad sound. Effects processing distorts the sound wildly.

018 TB or not TB

Created by David Ahlund, this patch changes with D Beam and TimeTrip Pad modulation in cool, interesting ways.

019 Glass Organ

Richard Barbieri created this transparent pad sound. Open the Oscillator pages and you'll see that only a couple of sine waves are being used to create this subtle texture. A masterpiece!

020 JUNO Bass 1

Roland's classic JUNO bass sound is emulated here. There is a JUNO waveform in the V-Synth's analog-modeling oscillator, but here a straight square wave is used to simulate the popular sound. Another example of classic-synthesis emulation on the V-Synth.

021 PushTheBeat

A vocoder-like sound using VariPhrase. As with Patch 001, it's another great example of playing a vocal phrase in ways made possible only by the V-Synth.

023 FbackOSC TT

Aggressive lead sound using the new Feedback oscillator. Have fun with the D Beam and TimeTrip pad.

027 Solo Wah Saw

A synth lead sound with a filtered wah effect. What might seem like a standard synth sound is actually comprised of some interesting V-Synth tricks.

028 Voco Motion

A pad sound featuring the new StepModulator. Oscillator formant is modulated, as well as filter and amplitude.

029 Flare Star

Play sustained notes and listen as the SideBand Filter gradually evolves in time. Key velocity also adds dynamic sound changes.

032 RhythmThroat

Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater created this patch. He features the COSM Resonator, and modulates oscillator formant and filter with the StepModulator.
